Yuzen Kimono Fabrics from Japan
Recently, I tried to create a pattern to enter in a competition offered by the Japan Textile Dyeing Joint Association, but I noticed it too late and didn't have enough time to complete the pattern. The main motif in my design was going to be the Japanese crane; they're such beautiful and graceful birds, I can see why they've inspired endless kimono fabric designs. I got to drawing the birds, but I still have to add the floral and geometric motifs. Now I have an idea for a nice wallpaper design!
As I was doing my research on Yuzen techniques, I came across this beautiful video. It's truly amazing, you definitely get an appreciation for all the work that goes into the making of an original Yuzen kimono. Enjoy!
